One lakh CCTV cameras soon in Hyderabad

CC_camera_hyderabadBy October one lakh CCTV cameras will be installed across Hyderabad and Cyberabad under the ‘Our City Safe City’ programme. All commercial establishments, schools, hospitals, hotels and companies must install CCTV cameras at their entry, exit points and parking areas as well.

All government departments that are authorised to issue license for trade must make installation of CCTV mandatory for issuing license. All cameras must have provision for storage of video for 30 days, and should be high definition.

Police commissioner Mahender Reddy said that one CCTV camera is equal to 12 constables. With the installation of CCTVs crime rates have drastically come down in many areas.

Police inspectors having jurisdiction over the area may at any time without prior notice enter any establishment, inspect and check the installation and functioning of CCTV cameras and in case of any default shall send a report to the assistant commissioner of police or the sub divisional police officer concerned having jurisdiction over the area.
